Antonio Artese, piano - Antonio Artese, piano, Director of the University of California Study Abroad program, Siena, Italy
He holds a Diploma from Conservatorio Santa Cecilia, Rome, a Laurea Magna cum Laude in Theoretical Philosophy, University of Chieti, Italy, and received his DMA from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Mr. Artese has been performing intensively both as soloist and as chamber musician in Europe and in United States. He was the recipient of the Esperia Foundation Grant for the Arts, and two Instructional Development Grants at UC Santa Barbara. First Prize at the Performing Arts Scholarship Foundation and at the Rachmaninov International Piano Competition, he is the author of the piano solo CD Italian Sketches (Digital Domain 1996) and of the video Improvisation: a narrative structure (UC Santa Barbara 1997). Among his teachers Massimo Marzi, Sergio Fiorentino, Paul Berkowitz, and Alexander Slobodyanik and Vera Gornostaeva from Moscow Conservatory. Besides classical music, he plays jazz professionally in the Bay Area.
